A BRIEF HISTORY OF DODGE
The Dodge brothers — Horace Elgin and John Francis — were in Motown for the birth of the modern auto industry, opening their original machine shop in Detroit in 1900. Unfortunately, John Dodge suddenly died of pneumonia in January 1914, and Horace Dodge passed away from liver problems in December of the same year.
After nearly 15 years of ups and downs, the Dodge business was purchased by the Chrysler Corporation in 1928.
